The rules that keep your load legal
- Fill level with the sides — overloaded skips legally can’t travel and a failed-collection charge applies.
- Hardcore and soil go in 8-yard skips and below; 12 and 16-yard skips carry light waste only.
- Plasterboard travels separately by law — ask for a plasterboard-only skip.
- No fridges, tyres, gas bottles, paints, batteries, electricals, liquids or asbestos — full list and legal routes here.
- Skips stay where the driver placed them — moved skips may need re-positioning before collection.

How quickly can a skip arrive?
Next working day almost everywhere we cover. Same day around Uckfield and central Sussex if you order before 10:00 — the order form shows the option automatically when it’s available.
How long can I keep the skip?
Up to 7 days is included. Keep it longer for £15 a day — set the hire length in the order form or call us mid-hire to extend. On-road skips are also limited by the permit period, which we track for you.
Do I need a permit?
Only when the skip sits on a public road or verge. Driveways and private land need nothing. We apply to the council for you, supply the legally required cones and lights, and show the exact fee in the order form before payment. Grass verges count as road; driveways don’t.
How full can I load it?
Level with the sides, no higher. Transporting an overloaded skip is illegal, so our drivers will ask you to level it before it can leave — and a failed collection visit is chargeable. When in doubt, order one size up; it’s nearly always cheaper than a second skip.
What happens to the waste?
Every load is tipped at our own licensed transfer station near Uckfield, sorted, and sent to recycling outlets. 100% of general waste is recycled — nothing to landfill.
Can you do bigger than 16 yards?
Yes — 20 to 40-yard roll-on roll-off containers for commercial and construction jobs. They’re quoted rather than booked online: see commercial services or call the office.
